Hallux valgus is the medical term more commonly known as a bunion. A bunion is a bony deformity of the joint at the base of the big toe and is often accompanied by a lump/bump on the side of the big toe joint that can be red swollen and/or painful.
The first metatarsal bone that runs along the foot to the big toe can also be pushed out of alignment. This can cause instability, pain, difficulty walking and can sometimes make finding comfortable fitting footwear difficult.
Total Body Orthotics has a range of splints available for bunions/ Hallux valgus.
